How accurate
is Fast Estimate?
All
individual calculations are 100% accurate up to 4 decimal places
(For example, see Unit Cost value in Resources). Involved calculations
can however result in rounding (up/down) and this can be compounded
if many resources are of a high value and used in small amounts
(e.g. small amounts of metal costing £1,000 per tonne).
When designing Fast Estimate we had to decide on the optimum level
of accuracy expected by most users. In the construction and engineering
environments rounding of a few pennies over the price of a complete
job is very unlikely to cause any concerns with clients.
We
believe we have got the balance about right as no users have reported
any issues with accuracy.
