THE ITEM LIBRARY

Rates that accurately reflect the cost of doing the work

You can create, edit and maintain a selection of libraries that reflect the type of work your company undertakes (e.g. Builder work, joinery, steel work). To make it easier to find existing items, libraries are split into Sections & Subsections. You can create as many of each of these as you like.

An item can be a simple text item or rated. If it has no unit or rate then it is text only. If it has a unit and a rate, the Net Rate value will be displayed in teal (green) and can be viewed and edited as described in Library Item Build up

Main Features

  • Add as many libraries, Sections and Subsections as you wish
  • Items may be simple text or rated
  • Edit or delete library items, sections or subsections as necessary - nothing is fixed
  • Export libraries for use by others in your company
  • Supports up to 5 levels of indentation for easy viewing and clear, attractive printouts
  • User definable item font attributes at all levels
  • Copy or move items or blocks of items (e.g. for splitting large sections)
  • Search for items
  • Create items directly from selected resources or composite resources
  • Trace items used in your Schedules

To load an item library:

  1. Select the Item Library/Items option from the primary menu button to load the item editor (Note: Fast Estimate remembers the last library to be selected so items may be loaded automatically).
  2. Use the Browse Section/Subsection buttons to load the different item Subsections.

We have supplied some sample data to help demonstrate how it can be configured to suite your company needs.

Important: These are examples only and should not be used to price work without thorough checking and customisation to suite your local conditions.

Tips

  1. Start your own library by copying any useful items from the samples supplied (or rename the existing headers to suit and delete/edit the items to create your own library).
  2. Plan your library and keep it well structured so you can find items easily when pricing work under pressure.
