SHARING DATA IN A NETWORK

Fast Estimate can be run as a single-user installation (one user authorised to access the data files at any time) or as a networked installation where the program and pricing data can be shared by 2 or more concurrent users.

Having a central store of pricing data that can be shared by more than one estimator at one time has several benefits:

• Data Entry - Prices and other variable information need only be entered once for all users
• Uniformity - Everyone is using the same pricing information
• Data Administration - There is only one set of data to look after
• Installation - There is only one copy of the program to install

Fast Estimate will run on most types of network, including peer-to-peer e.g. Windows 2000/XP/Vista

The number of concurrent users allowed on any system is limited by your Key File. If you need to increase the number of people accessing your data you need to purchase a replacement Key file.

IMPORTANT: Access to the Fast Estimate program and data files should be via a MAPPED drive (mapped directly to the Fast Estimate program folder) Simply using a shortcut to the .EXE file may cause data problems due to temporary files being saved on a local drive.
All users need full read/write access to the data files
