ITEMS (or Rated Items or Rates)

You can create, edit and maintain a selection of libraries containing rated items that reflect the type of work your company undertakes (e.g. Builder work, joinery, steel work). To make it easier to find existing items, libraries are split into Sections & Subsections. Your libraries can be as large or as small as suits your business.

Key Features

  • Add, edit or move Libraries, Sections and Subsections as needed
  • Items may be simple text (headings, subheadings), rated or Composite
  • Supports up to 5 levels of indentation for easy viewing and clear, attractive printouts
  • User definable item font attributes at all levels
  • Search for items (Ctrl+S)
  • Create items directly from resources or composite resources
  • Trace items to see where they are used in your composites
  • Replace Resources by item or block of items
  • Auto replace items used in composites
  • Apply Overhead & Profit to single items or all items

[Item Libraries]

Use this entry to create (or amend) your library structure. The table of current libraries is displayed on the right

Using the tree selector to select and create library pages

To select a library, click on its name within the tree. This will list its sections (if any). To add a section, simply type its name into the blank row at the end of the list, or use the New button/Insert key to insert a new line at any point.
Library pages (subsections) are loaded with their items (if any) when you click on the subsection name in the selection tree. You can now edit the items directly.

An item can be simple text or it may be rated. If it has no unit or rate then it is text only e.g. a header. If it has a unit and a rate, the Net Rate value will be displayed in teal (green) and can be viewed and edited

For selecting resources, see Item Rate Build Up

Managing Your Library

If you need to add new libraries or amend existing ones, use the tree selector to load the library table. If you need to move items between libraries, use the Cut / Paste functions (Apply by block or the whole page if needed).

Important: The library items supplied are examples only and should not be used to price work without thorough checking and customisation to suite your local conditions.

Tips

  1. Plan your library and keep it well structured so you can find items easily when pricing work under pressure
  2. Use C/C/Paste to move individual items or blocks of items around
